He requested to be buried in a plot by his late wife purchased in 1742 at the Novo Burying ground near to Bancroft Hospital. Solomon da Costa Athias was the founder of the Hebrew collection in the British Museum. He left Amsterdam and settled in London. His wife was Abigail da Costa Alverenga. They were married Bevis Marks 5 June 1717.
