City of London Census Names abstracted from An Index of London inhabitants within the city walls in 1695. Based on assessments for 80 parishes made under the Act of 6 & 7 Wm. and Mary.

City of London Tax 1693 – 1694We abstracted the following names from the records of the Four Shillings in the Pound 1693 to 1694 tax, raised by Parliament to fund King William’s European warfare. We do not guarantee that we have identified every listed Jewish person and may have included some who were not: this applies in particular to names of Spanish and Italian origin. For further information see here.  Unfortunately we have no records in the SynagogueScribes main database for this very early post-readmission period.

More very early records abstracted from civil sources. As before, some persons listed may not have been Jewish, and we may have missed some who were. For further information click here

For further information regarding the late Arthur Arnold’s abstracts, published in the Jewish Historical Society of England Miscellanies. Part VI, and not included in this table, click here.

City of London Settlements Some names selected from City of London Settlements St Botolph Aldgate 1742 to 1868 This is a very partial abstract and some of the individuals may not be Jewish. For further details on this excellent resource and information on how to purchase the CD, see here.
