It is now King&#8217;s School Recital Room.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was built on the site of a Knights Templar hospice and there still some medieval brickwork in the garden walls.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The synagogue was restored in 1889 and the only remaining original furnishings are the gallery pews.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is an art deco feel about the synagogue, especially the door surrounds.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_546\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-546\" class=\"size-full wp-image-546\" title=\"Ladies Gallery\" src=\"http:\/\/synagoguescribes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/tn_Gallery-inside-Old-Synagogue-Canterbury.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"218\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-546\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ladies Gallery, copyright Tricia Baxter<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Next door to the Synagogue is the Old Mikveh.
